New devices incorporating cup springs and double-piston hydraulic cylinders for clamping tool arbors in machine spindles are described. The pistons exert a force which releases the arbor as a result of additional compression of the cup springs, and a force which relieves the load on the spindle bearings or the load on the spindle sleeve clamps resulting from the tool-release force. Typical hydraulic circuits for manually controlled devices are given. Devices of this type can be used in milling and other machines, including NC machines.
