MOTION OF PARTICLES AND SEGREGATION BY THEIR DENSITY DIFFERENCE IN A V-TYPE MIXER.

摘要
The theory of discrete steady-state Markov chain is applied to describe segregation process. The transition probabilities of the particles in a two-dimensional V-type mixer were determined by use of a single particle tracing method. The particles circulate in the mixer, and in the system containing two kinds of particles of different density, lighter particles move toward the outer region of the circulating flow, while heavier ones concentrate in the neighborhood of the stagnant point of circulating flow. The circulation time distributions of particles are obtained by the theory of recurrence. The time change of concentration distribution and degree of mixedness, and the equilibrium state of mixture are simulated. The simulated results are in good agreement with experimental ones.
