ONERA now has two test benhes (static and dynmics) for characterizing accurately the pressure transducers to be used in future cryogenic wind tunnels. The static test bench can also be used for checking the operation of complex pneumatic systems. The static tests carried out on the Kulite XCQL and ONERA 20 H 130 transducers show that they are usable at 120 K, where the characteristics of the former transducer are maintained or improved and those of the latter are slightly reduced. The initial thermostat construction, including a scanivalve multiplexer and a Druck transducer, is also usable at 120 K, but with reduced tranducer performance due to the thermal gradients.
