This paper summarizes results of the symposium held in the Netherlands on the subject of pulp materials handling and transportation, organized by Pulp and Paper International. Topics discussed included woodchip imports to Europe, the new generation of open-hatch bulk carriers, block trains for chips in Canada and pulp in France, tug-barge systems, pipeline chip transport in slurry form, and pelletized wastepaper for bulk handling.
