In view of the conflicting requirements of power versus irrigation and flood control, a detailed study has been made with a view to laying down policies for its efficient regulation and optimal operation both during and after the monsoon periods. It has been found that exclusive flood storage is essential for efficient flood control and well designed filling schedules increase the efficacy of the flood control aspect and also ensure that the conservation demands are reasonably met. Two guide curves have been prepared for the reservoir. For deriving optimum benefits the reservoir should be operated between the upper and lower guide curves.
