Geiger-Mueller bore-hole logging systems are normally used in locating, evaluating and exploiting radioactive mineral deposits. Although the relatively low counting rates obtained usually restrict their use to the study of deposits, they can be employed in general prospecting in special cases where the environmental conditions are very severe.
