Effect of structural parameters on the yield of volatile compounds from coals and macerals

Based on the data for the main maceral groups (vitrinite, inertinite, and liptinite) and for coals of different fields, a general correlation between a structural-chemical parameter δ characteristic of the degree of unsaturation of coal organic mass and the parameter of volatiles yield was established. It is shown that, for vitrinite coals, the δ value determined by the data on elemental composition correlates with the refractive index in air Ra and in oil immersion R0 and can be used as a structural-chemical index of the degree of coal metamorphism.
