摘要
A few aspects regarding the right choice of a bidirectional power flow converter topology are discussed. Based on the unconditional bidirectional power flow of the matrix converter, the paper presents the use of the matrix converter in a particular application: artificial loading of the induction motor. Also, the problems caused by the influence of the input filter on the matrix overvoltage during input voltage disturbances (voltage sags or power-up procedure) are discussed and solutions to eliminate those problems are proposed. Experimental work to validate the proposed solutions includes regenerative operation of the matrix converter drive and artificial loading of the induction motor.
