Research of experiment and calculation method on influence of dock construction to water level

A dock construction built on a river bank causes naturally the water level upstream to rise and influences the local flow pattern. Through an illustration of generalized fixed bed model simulating Shayang river stretch on the Hanjiang River, the influences of dock construction on water levels and velocity field have been investigated in the model test. On the basis of the principle of energy conservation, and using the basic equation of steady non-uniform flow water surface profile and combining with the test data, the calculation method for water level caused by dock construction is proposed, and the variation values of water levels near the Shayang dock construction are calculated.
