NTT's newly developed private digital videotex system, which uses the 64 kb/s digital network, allows provision of more attractive services than is possible with the conventional videotex system utilizing the analog telephone network. This new videotex system can display not only Chinese characters and geometric figures, but also full-color pictures and high quality audio information. It also can offer such service enhancement as multi-address delivery and a picture message board service, in addition to ordinary information retrieval. This paper outlines the system and describes its major characeristics.
