Drillstem testing in today's deeper, more complex wells can be carried out safely and economically only if the field drilling representative is armed with comprehensive knowledge of equipment and techniques available. This presents basic equipment lists and procedures for conducting open hole, short and extended tests using either a single or straddle packer. Also presented are cased hole procedures using a single packer and additional information specifically tailored to drillstem testing on floating rigs.
