DEVELOPMENTS IN STOCKSBRIDGE AND TINSLEY PARK MELTING SHOPS DURING THE LAST DECADE.

These two works have been combined to form the major part of the Alloy and Stainless Group of the British Steel Corporation, Sheffield Division, and now produce a combined total of about 17,000 t/week of carbon and alloy steel and 2,300 t/week of stainless steel. In this paper, the major plant and process developments which have taken place in the melting shops at both works are summarized.
