This paper examines the implementation of a CADCAM system undertaken as the central theme of a teaching company program, in which an academic institution collaborates with a local company to implement some aspect of advanced manufacturing technology. The paper describes the design and manufacturing procedures in operation prior to the implementation, proceeds through the actual implementation and ends by considering the system so developed. This work has shown that the planning of the implementation of new technology must be flexible. The formal planning and reporting of work necessary within a teaching company has been shown to allow such implementations to be carefully monitored and successfully achieved. 4 refs.
