POLICIES, CONSTRAINTS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOW- AND NON-WASTE TECHNOLOGIES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.

African countries aspire to economic and social development, industrial development being one of the essential factors for attaining this objective. However, in order to be able to use natural resources on a long-term basis and carry out rational development, it is vital to eliminate, or at the very least to minimize the negative impacts associated with industrialization. Technologies that cause little or no pollution constitute an effective tool for preventing industrial pollution, furthermore they can also play a part in the establishment of new firms, and thus in job creation. This paper focuses attention on the one hand on the concept of technologies that cause little or no pollution and on the other on applications of such technologies in Senegal.
