Exact integral expressions for the electromagnetic field, created by an horizontal electric dipole on microstrip, have been obtained by using a magnetic vector potential. These expressions cannot be evaluated analytically for the case of the near field. To deal with the presence of singularities and the absence of uniform convergence in the integrals, a special numerical technique has been developed. A comparison with the homogeneous case has been made, and the effect of dielectric layer in the values of the field has been pointed out.
