On an optimal method of calculating double integrals in solving direct gravimetric and magnetometric problems

In solving direct gravimetric and magnetometric problems it is proposed, in numerical calculation of a double integral, to first subdivide the integration range S into square-shaped (or similar) sub-ranges Si, i = 1,m, over-bar and then calculate the m integrals formed, using the Cartesian product of Gauss-Legendre type quadratures. It is shown that the proposed method for calculation of double integrals is more effective with respect to convergence than other methods.
