Importance of Mechanical Rigidity for the Reliability of Soldered Joints in Electronic Equipment.

The fundamental requirements for the soldered joints of electronic circuit boards are reviewed. It was concluded that both the elastic and plastic behavior of metals and alloys used for soldering play very important role in reliability of joints. The factors contributing to better reliability are discussed.
