With the sidespread use of compressed air in process technology, electronics, genetics, biotechnology, pharmacy and in the foodstuffs and semi-luxury foodstuffs industries - in fact everywhere where the air comes into direct or indirect contact with the product - the requirements for quality increase yearly. It is one of the most important tasks of the planners of compressed air installations to remove all manner of contaminants at all stages in the unit. The quality of the air is often crucial to its performance, efficiency, economic viability and general capacity to carry innumerable processes into effect. As any form of standardization or specifications to grade compressed air as to quality concern the long term future of the plant with many different parameters to consider, new and better methods of filtration have to be sought.
