A computerized data bank of traffic crash information for Washtenaw County, Mich was built. In this data bank are four variables describing the location of each crash - the two street codes of the nearest intersection, and the distance and direction of the crash site from the referenced intersection. A coding system was established in which individually named linear segments (roadways) were assigned a unique four-digit numerical code. A coordinate system was established for the county. Maps can be produced of any subset of the master file.
