摘要
The paper outlines some problems encountered with laboratory specimen preparation from friable coal measure rocks. The paper deals with the modification of a standard radial-arm drilling machine for this purpose. Core drill selection, bulk sample material selection and pre-coring preparation are considered. Reference is made to the main drilling parameters, i. e. bit pressures, peripheral cutting speeds and flush rates to provide improved performance.
