PRINTERS SHOW THEIR COLORS AS PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY IMPROVE.

The growth of computer color graphics has motivated a parallel growth in the need for color hardcopy output that accurately depicts what the user sees on the CRT. Color printing technology has been largely driven by the requirements of the CAE environment and is now being pushed further along by markets for advanced business graphics and graphic arts. The ideal is to produce an ink image as faithfully as a photograph, as reliably as a pen plotter and as quickly as a monochromatic printer. That is a tall order, so it is surprising how well color printers are beginning to approach that ideal, although none are quite there yet.
