摘要
Stripping is the expulsion of volatile components from liquids with the aid of steam or inert gases, while distillation is the separation of liquid mixtures by partial evaporation. Stripping has acquired importance as a waste water treatment method for the removal of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons from wastewater. Both stripping and distillation are costly procedures from the energy and equipment standpoints. For the removal of chlorinated hydrocarbons the use of stripping is not recommended at concentrations less than 200 ppm.
