Polyurethanes are widely used especially in the biomedical field, but they have some disadvantages as their surface behaviour with environment. So, it seemed interesting to fluorinate the elastomer surface for decreasing the surface energy and thereby improve friction properties. Polymeric radicals are produced on the surface layer of the material as fluorine atoms by a carbon tetrafluoride plasma treatment or by some grafting with acrylic-fluorine containing molecules.
