Improving productivity with A-TIG welding

摘要
The A-TIG welding developed by the E O Paton Electric Welding Institute can achieve, in a single pass, a full penetration weld in C-Mn steel up to 12mm thickness, without the use of a bevel preparation and the addition of filler wire. Its depth of penetration can be increased by using an 'activated flux'. Furthermore, a study conducted to determine the possibility of increasing joint completion rates showed that such can be further increased with the use of argon-helium or argon-hydrogen shielding gas mixtures.
