WELDING SYMBOLS - A NEW APPROACH.

The new edition of AS 1101. 3, Graphical Symbols for General Engineering - Part 3, Welding and Non-destructive Examination, is generally based on the American National Standard ANSI/AWS A2. 4, Symbols for Welding and Nondestructive Testing. One of the outstanding features of the new Standard is the introduction of symbols for use of drawings to specify requirements for non-destructive examination of welds. These symbols could be used to indicate the type, location and extent of NDE required are discussed in the article.
