This section of the paper continues with the subsequent development of the latest type of equipment that has become available to allow expansion of the style of face-end work. The two basic pieces of equipment that form the hardware for in-line systems are the power loader itself, and the a. f. c. driverframe over which the power loader operates. These are described separately although in any feasibility study being undertaken for a face-end design project they will, of necessity, have to be considered jointly. Due to the great versatility of the ranging-drum shearer, it is only intended to describe this type of power loader and also to limit the description to the types used within the Area.
