The simultaneous bending and longitudinal vibrations of a beam are investigated. The vibrations are caused by a rigid disk rolling on the beam and the friction (adhesion) between the disk and the beam is taken into account. Special attention is paid to starting and braking conditions of the disk. The system of differential equations for the bending and longitudinal vibration of the beam and for the movement of the rolling disk, with special conditions expressing the adhesion, is solved. The effect of some dimensionless parameters (e. g. the effect of the speed, of the mass of the beam and of the disk, of the coefficient of adhesion etc. ) is considered.
