This article describes how Armco Inc. added new washing circuits to an old coal preparation plant in West Virginia, by dismantling, then rebuilding much of the structure without hurting existing production. A virtually all-new structure housing new fine coal washing circuits has been erected around an operating coarse coal washing plant with only minor interruptions in coal output. A flowsheet of the existing and new plant equipment is given.
