摘要
Actual performance of 4 one-half in. diam and larger extruders meeting optimized commercial production rates and quality is compared with typical calculations made in designing extruders. These calculations involve computer simulations of extrusion as well as simplified equations for drag flow, pressure flow, and solids conveying. Examples are given of the value of computer program simulations of extruder performance as an analytical tool for extending ones knowledge of extruder design and operating possibility, as well as others that show the pitfalls of placing total reliance on computer simulations without relating to actual performance data.
