摘要
In the absence of hydrogen several coal types undergo a swelling and spalling reaction early in their liquefaction reaction with hydrogen donor solvents. The coals increase their reactivity in the order semi-anthracite, lignite, and sub-bituminous. Increased temperature and reaction time increase the extent of reaction. To utilize these observations a concept is presented which may lead to an underground coal liquefaction process.
