The pitting formation potentials V//p//i//t were determined from anodic polarization curves recorded in steps of 30 m V with a hold of 15 min. The value of V//p//i//t of an open surface of chromium is 1. 1 V and in gaps it is 0. 79 V. With an increase in the chromium in steel from 17 to 25% it does not change. With nickel in a steel V//p//i//t in gaps increases, which may also be explained by the resistance of these steels at high concentrations of chloride ions. In addition, nickel increases the ability to be anodically polarized and as a result impedes the development of pitting after it originates. With the addition of molybdenum V//p//i//t increases, but not similarly for different steels. There is a marked increase in V//p//i//t in gaps with the addition of titanium to steels.
