摘要
Many types of industrial processes and the combustion of coal and fuel oil produce acid byproducts that can cause extensive corrosion of metal surfaces. A variety of solutions have been proposed to prevent, or at least minimize, metal corrosion in boilers, compressors, particulate collection devices, and other equipment; however, chemicals have proved to be the most effective and economical. This article discusses the way acid is produced in plant equipment, methods for reducing the formation, and procedures for protecting metal surfaces from the corrosive effects.
