Laser printers derive their name from the process of character generation. A modulated laser beam is used to produce an electrostatic charge pattern that generates the desired information on the surface of a photo-conductor drum. This article will provide a detailed functional overview of laser printer operation, using the Siemens ND2 as an example to demonstrate the various steps involved.
