摘要
A test and evaluation program was conducted to determine performance, operability and durability characteristics of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft TF30 engine afterburner and exhaust nozzle to variations in jet fuel properties. The test fuels were selected to exhibit a pronounced variation in those property values which may be expected to affect afterburner ignition and/or performance most significantly. A petroleum derived JP-4 fuel was used as the program baseline. JP-5 fuel and four selected blends were used to evaluate the effects of property variations. Viscosity, volatility, hydrogen content, and aromatic type were the principal fuel variables. The variation of fuel properties tested did not adversely affect the performance or durability of this afterburner. Mainburner smoke number correlated reasonably well with hydrogen content, aromatic content, and smoke point.
