摘要：
The operating principles of Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and Liquid-Crystal Displays (LCDs) are briefly summarized. Then their properties are listed and compared in each of eight different categories which are important for characterizing displays. It is concluded that neither display technology is superior to the other in all aspects and the user must decide which properties are more important for his application.
