A semi-submersible platform to handle both drilling and production in water depths to over 2000-ft has been designed by Fluor Subsea. In the exploration mode, the structure utilizes conventional catenary mooring. When converted to the taut-moored mode, development drilling and long-term production of up to 100,000 bopd can be handled.
