Study on acidity and activity of ultrastable Y zeolites

By means of NH3-TPD, pyridine and 2, 6-dimethyl pyridine adsorption, IR of adsorbed pyridine, and MAT, it has been shown that the acidity and activity of ultrastable Y zeolites vary with the preparation method of the tested samples. The acid density of SRNY, FSY and HSY decreases with increasing temperature more slowly than that of USY. SRNY, FSY and HSY have a greater proportion of strong acid site than USY. It seems that 2, 6-dimethyl pyridine is adsorbed not only at B-acid site but also at L-acid site.
