Three-component interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) of castor oil-based polyurethanes, epoxy, and polystyrene networks were prepared by sequential polymerization. For comparative purpose, two-component network IPNs and individual homopolymers have been prepared. A comparison of chemical resistance evaluations, thermal stabilities, mechanical properties, and scanning electron microscopy showed that improved properties and morphologies resulted in three-component IPNs. Presumably, interaction between different networks resulted in a forced mixing between different polymers which decreased the extent of phase separation.
