This paper presents some of the results of a systematically conducted series of model tests and the trends of residuary resistance coefficients versus a few of the major parameters which define barge hull form for an extended range. The test data were analyzed by constructing parameterized polynomial coefficients using a regression analysis. The analyzed results can be used to determine the towing resistance of existing offshore construction barges, or to determine the optimum principal dimensions of new barge designs with the least resistance.
