Recently introduced GTO thyristors make it possible to construct mains-driven series-resonant power supplies (SRPS) which are more efficient than switched-mode power supplies and also cause minimal mains pollution. This work describes the theory of operation of the SRPS and presents ten methods of connecting a load to the circuit.
