摘要
By selective treatment of spaces in sequences of multiple spaces in text, a text-formatter can produce output that is much closer to the intent of the author than conventional formatters would produce. The present approach consists of expanding during justification only the first of a sequence of spaces while retaining the remainder of the sequence with each space at a fixed size. This fixed size would be dependent on the typestyles (fonts) being used. This approach will work with mono-spaced fonts or proportional fonts. This approach can be added to any method for text justification so long as the justification method only expands the size of only one of the spaces in a sequence.
