The Environmental Research Laboratory has designed and built two complete integrated rockbed-evaporative cooling and active ClearView Solar Collector systems, one as part of a solar greenhouse office combination at the Lab, and the other in an occupied Tucson home. A large rockbed is used to store heat produced by the solar collector during the winter and to store lack of heat produced at night by an evaporative cooler during the summer. Two-stage cooling effect is evaluated in various modes of operation.
