摘要
Polarography was used to determine niobium content without the prior separation of copper and vanadium. Niobium ions were found to be reversibly reduced in concentrated hydrochloric acid solutions containing sulfuric acid and a polyhydric alcohol. Ethylene glycol and glycerine were used as the alcohols. Ratios of sulfuric acid:alcohol:hydrochloric acid were optimized for separation of the copper, vanadium, and niobium peaks and were found to be 2:2:6 for nickel base alloys and between 3:1:5 and 4:2:3 for steels. The proposed method was used to analyze standard samples of steels and nickel base alloys. The composition of these samples and the results of niobium determination are presented.
