AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD FOR HIGH-PRECISION LABORATORY POTENTIOMETERS.

This standard provides criteria for use by a prospective purchaser of a high precision laboratory potentiometer in evaluating his requirements and the ability of a potential vendor to satisfy those requirements. The criteria therefore describe performance characteristics, and are not intended to require definition of design elements or design principles, unless these be specific to a particular application. This standard applies to potentiometers of the passive, resistive type used for the determination of direct voltage quantities. As used here, the potentiometer is an instrument for measuring an unknown direct voltage by matching it with a known direct voltage.
