Up to 90% of the metal must be removed from Inconel alloy forgings in the production of large diameter, thin section rings for aircraft gas turbine engines. Some machining, metallizing, deburring and assembling operations performed on shroud stators at the Special Products Dept of Lear Siegler are described and illustrated.
