Spectral characteristics of thermal radio emission from a sea surface polluted by petroleum products

Experimental results from multichannel radiothermal studies of the radio emission from oil spills on the sea surface that were made under various hydrometeorological conditions are reported. Two effects were observed in the interaction of the waves and oil films: positive variations in light waves and negative variations in heavy waves. The spectral characteristics obtained for these variations in the range 0. 8-3. 2 cm permitted certain inferences as to the physical causes of these effects.
