摘要：

The paper gives an introduction to the architecture and the specification and realization of open systems. As a common base the 'Basic Reference Model of Open System Interconnection' of the International Organizaton for Standardization (ISO) is used. Additionally to the technical terms defined in the reference model, some new ideas for the realization of open systems are introduced to describe feasible implementations of the reference model by the functions of its modules. The specification of services and protocols is described by means of a simple example. Guidelines for the specification of open system implementation are given which will lead to a common understanding in the realization of the communication network.
