Individual grain orientation relations after high-speed hot rolling of steel rods

High-speed hot working of ferrite X8CrTil7 performed by pass-rolling results in a very complex microstructure. Previous transmission electron microscopy (TEM) investigations combined with stereological methods delivered qualitative and quantitative information about mean grain and subgrain size and size distribution. Here we report local texture determination by TEM Kikuchi diagram measurements. An increasing misorientation between individual grains with increasing number of passes is observed, which is accompanied by the onset of dynamic and postdynamic recrystallization at higher deformation rates.
