Problem of how 200 buses can best serve a population of 1. 07 m people spread over 1300 mile**2 is discussed. The final control system designed produced zone-to-zone scheduling within each service area. As compared to point-to-point scheduling, zone-to-zone scheduling can use a smaller computer and is more tolerant of human error.
