Endothelial cell responses to cyclic pressure

The present study used a laboratory setup and investigated the cytoskeletal and proliferative responses of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) to well-defined, sinusoidal pressure regimes characterized by mean cyclic pressure (40 - 120 mm Hg), pulse pressure (40 mm Hg), frequency (1 Hz), and duration (up 24 hours). Results provide evidence that the mean value of the cyclic pressure stimulus affects important endothelial cell function(s).
